Audio Description

TV and media providers are encouraged to make their programs accessible to hearing and visually impaired people.

Audio description (AD) is an assistive technology helping visually impaired viewers have a better television experience. Audio description is the provision of a voice-over to a television programme or film that describes the actions that are occurring on screen.

Audio description has different levels of adoption in different countries, depending on regulation and the compatibility of their broadcast systems to support AD programming.
There are a variety of suppliers who can provide audio description of a programme, however programme makers should consult their commissioner on the supply format of the audio, as implementation of audio description does vary depending on your broadcaster or online distributor.
